9th February

Hi Everybody

Well, this year is starting with a good chilly spell - but GC has promised me that it will be warming up over the weekend.  It is not that I don't like the cold, icy weather - it's more that the dogs have a good laugh at me slipping all over the place when I am taking them out for a walk.  Horrors!!

As you can see, the boys have had great fun sniffing around in the snow.  Not sure where Bridie was!

The good news is that my leg has healed enough for me to be rid of all the dressings, so I can now get my wellies on!!

Grant and I had a really lovely first Christmas in our new home.  All the family managed to visit us at some point, so it was very busy.  A case of 'what day is it, who is sleeping where tonight?'.  Now we are looking forward to decorating the house and planting out the new garden.

At the shop it has been a really good start to the year (not!).  First we had no internet access over the Chrismtas/New Year period into the 2nd week of January - all up and running now.

Then we had another break-in - nothing stolen, just a broken window and wasted effort.  We have been up here for 8+ years and never had any problems until the last 6 months.  Ho, hum.

The snow came and the Turnpike Road has been partially closed, both causing no end of traffic problems.  But we have soldered on and it has given us time to re-organise the shop and get all the new stock beautifully displayed
.

Now the saddest part about the snow coming is that it has kept you all away from checking out the new stock.  We were going to have a coffee morning launch, but the snow put an end to that idea - so we will have to sort something out for the Spring!

Anyway, here is a taster for you:

Grace Taylor Vintage Floral Scrapbook Album Papermania Chronology A4 Die Cut Toppers - Totally Spiffing

Among the new ranges that we have brought in are some from KaiserCraft, the latest offering from Grace Taylor (including some gorgeous albums) and three ranges from Papermania as part of our new venture into Docrafts (yes, you can get your magazines from us!!)

docrafts Creativity Magazine Issue 37 Jan/Feb 2013

And, as I write, the delivery driver has just turned up with the NEXT offering from Kaiser.  Wonderful!!

Nicky has also had fun restocking the Distressing Ink pads - she has even managed to get some of the new colours!!

Tim Holtz Pickled Raspberry Distress Dye Ink Pad   Tim Holtz Squeezed Lemonade Distress Dye Ink Pad

Cate has been busy refreshing and re-dressing the wedding corner.  She is starting to busy up with all the new brides who were lucky enough to get a ring for Christmas or the New Year.

Cate has also come up with a cracking idea for the table plans, so watch out for photos on the blog or facebook. If you come in, you will see the gorgeous frame that is the start of the idea.

If you hear of any brides needing help with their wedding stationery or table planning, remember to give them our (well, Cates) details!!

So what else is coming up.  Well I have been promising it for a while now and it will be happening on the 9th February.   I can see you wondering what the old girl is twittering on about now, so here goes:

As you all know couple of months ago Liz got me playing with a canvass:

This is the one I did!

Now is your chance to have a go and the details are as follows:

9th February 2013 (yes, this year)
10 - 12.30  or  2 - 4.30
£25 per head
all materials included
Booking essential (and places are going fast)!!

This is just one of Liz's samples.  I cannot wait to have a go!!

So on that note I am going to make myself a cup of tea and put my feet up to plan my next canvas!!

The latest workshop brochure is linked at the bottom of the page.  Remember to watch the blog and facebook for more regular updates.

Now, before I sign off, I have a personal note to write - somebody has registered for our newsletter that I have not spoken to for many years (we just lost touch!) and I hope they are reading this.  If they are, they will laugh at this question:
Russell, do you still like your lasagne served up-side-down??

I will catch up with you all later and I am looking forward to showing you the new toys.  Happy crafting and, remember, the kettle is always on!!

Best wishes from Lynn and the Girls. xx

ps....if you are really curious about the lasagne story, I will tell you sometime - but if you ever went on one of Grant food hygiene courses, you probably will know the story!
