Gone to the Beach - Docrafts

Here is an amazing card by Nicky Hayden, using papers and stamps from the
Docrafts collection Ahoy There!

12 x 12 designer papers - Ahoy There!

Clear stamps - Ahoy There!

Nicky has used lots of elements for this stunning card.....using a selection of papers from the paper pack which have been layered onto the card, coordinating with the colouring in of the stamps.  I love the cute bunting that Nicky has coloured using her Promarkers.

She has used the same Beach Hut stamp (from the stamp set above), but coloured each one in differently to give them an individual look.

Nicky, has used the Cuttlebug A2 Embossing Folder-D'vine Swirl
 by Provocraft
to replicate the sea, and she has given it a blue wash using her Promarkers.

I love the beach sign, Gone To The Beach included in the stamp set.

Nicky has cut out shells from one of the papers and adhered them to the card using Stix2 craft foam pads.

Extra dimension has been added to the card layering patterned paper together with craft foam pads to create the beach.......she is so clever!

To finish the card, Nicky has stamped the Life Belt images and coloured them in.

If you would like to ask Nicky any further questions about this card, please leave your comments below and she will be only too happy to help out.

All supplies to make this card are available HERE or on-line.

Canvas Workshop - Jo Sonja's paints

Hard to think that this time last week we were having fun up in the workshop, decorating canvasses with Liz Black from Applejack Crafts

Here you can see Jacky and Jeanette busy playing.

Oh, my goodness, this is me!  So engrossed - am I going to stick my house here or there?

We used the Jo Sonja's Acrylic Paints & Mediums, together with an array of expensive tools (well, Bridies food is expensive and she only gets that brand because the containers are good for my paints)
This also shows that it is always handy to have an old tile laying around.

See - another expensive tools being used for some printing!  That is the reason that you should not put the lids out with your plastic milk bottles.

What a lovely effect - a bit of blending and a bit of printing (before you ask - bubble wrap, don't throw it away!)

Liz is showing Sue how to do some blending.

Almost there, just a little bit more work.

Every house needs a front door key!

A sentimental word or two never goes amiss.........

............and it is getting there.

All of this fun was with the wonderful:

and don't they just look lush?

See you at the next class!

Appliqué Wallet Invitation

Catherine Inglis our Wedding Coordinator has designed this gorgeous Appliqué Wallet Invitation for your special Wedding Day.

She has used an embossed cream heavyweight cardstock which exudes quality.  From the photo above, you can see the pocket for you to insert your printed invitation, which can easily be done yourself if you have a printer at home.

She has attached a cream satin ribbon across the top of the invitation flap, adhered with ultra strong double sided tape.  Catherine has then folded the ribbon to make a bow and attached a small piece of ribbon to the centre of the folded bow to hold it together.

A small pearlised flower button has been adhered to the centre of the satin bow and a velcro dot attached to the opening of this elegant Appliqué Wallet Invitation.

Oh, I do like to be beside the seaside - canvas

Here is a wonderful canvas designed by Nicky Hayden.  Now we all know Nicky for her stamping and colouring in, but she has recently begun to play with Jo Sonja's paints!!!!  It must be too tempting working in the shop, looking at the rows of paints within arms length every day...eh Nicky?

Come and see our wide range of Jo Sonja's paints and mediums.

Nicky has applied a selection of Jo Sonja's paints for the sky and sand onto the canvas.

She has stamped onto the designer papers from the recently released Docrafts collection
called Ahoy There!

Clear stamps - Ahoy There!

12 x 12 designer papers - Ahoy There!

To add extra dimension to the project Nicky has adhered buttons and seed beads with some stamped sea shells.

I love the shell buttons.

I can almost smell and hear the sea.  Now everyone join in after 1,2,3......

Oh! I do like to be beside the seaside
I do like to be beside the sea!
I do like to stroll upon the Prom, Prom, Prom!
Where the brass bands play: "Tiddely-om-pom-pom!"

Magazines just arrived!

Hey, hey - the postman has just been and look what he has brought with him:

AND

I must say, both of them look gorgeous, with some lovely ideas.

Looks like it will be a glass of wine and a snuggle up in the conservatory with a good magazine (or two!)

A question for this Saturday.

What a change from last weekend!  I have just looked at the weather forecast and it says 'rain' for today.  I suppose we should all be grateful that we had summer on the Bank Holiday weekend.

Then GC wakes this morning and shows all the signs of a man who is preparing for an afternoon of Cup Final

So all that means only on thing:

CRAFT TIME!

I know what I will be doing, playing along with Liz and a bunch of lovely ladies in the workshop, decorating a canvas:

mixed-media fun!

What will you be doing today??

Best Wishes - Owl card and Bakers Twine

Nicky Hayden, our cardmaking workshop demonstrator has made this adorable card.  Don't you just love how she has used bakers twine and buttons to make a great feature of the owl's eyes.

She has used papers from the Suga Pop Paper Collection by Kaisercraft.

The Docrafts 4"x 4" Urban Rubber Stamp is, called Owl,
and is proving very popular in the shop!

Nicky has stamped the owl several times on various pieces of patterned paper.  She has then cut them out carefully, piecing the owl together.

Happy May Bank Holiday Sunshine

Happy National Scrapbooking Saturday!!

Hi Everybody

I thought that this beautiful scrapbooking page, that Cate did with a fun picture of Frejya, just about hit the nail on the head.

Although there is a little bit of rain about at the moment, I have read the forecast and it is not going to last long. A small blip in what will otherwise be a stunning May Bank Holiday weekend.

It is also, so I have been told this morning (foresight and planning is not my best feature!!), National Scrapbooking Saturday..........ooops, should have organised a crop. I will try harder for next year.

In the meantime, we have got lots of beautiful goodies for Scrapping and we do have a lot that has been reduced - spring cleaning in readiness for NEW goodies!

Now, this is not going to be a long newsletter, so I will kick on.

The roadworks that have been affecting us for the past 6 weeks, have now finished along our road - hooray!! They are still messing about in Fir Tree Lane, so either come to us directly from the A4 or along the Turnpike.
Remember:

Today, being the first Saturday of the month, it is
Promarker Club with Nicky
This afternoon, 2'til 4pm!

I think Nicky might be playing with a nautical theme
(ahoy there, me 'earties!!)
So bring your Promarkers/Flexmarkers and have some fun!!
Next Saturday:
11th May, we will have Liz Black with us and she will be doing this:
How do you fancy having something like this hanging in YOUR home and all crafted by your own sweet hand? Well, here is your chance! You can even pick your own colours to match your decor AND get the choice of two different times during the day.

Saturday, 11th May
10 - 12.30 or 2 - 4.30
£25 per head
all materials and refreshments included
Booking is essential, we still have a few places left
- but they are going fast!
Full details of all these classes are in the Summer Workshop Brochure.
Now, those of you that used to come to the shop when we were in the little unit, will remember that we used to put up the awning in the summer and have bargain bins!!
Well, we are trying to do the same again - although the awning bit is not going quite to plan! But we have got lots of bargains!
Things like:
Decoupage sheets at 10p (not die-cut)
Selected & ex-workshop Rubber Stamps 50p
American Craft Ribbons (rrp £1.05 pm) 50p pm
Fine glitter pots (normally £2.50) 50p
Past season Clear Stamps (normally £5.49) now £2.50

Past magazines reduced.
Tombow pens 50p
Sakura Souffle pens 50p
Dovecraft Tea Party reduced to less than half-price
Parchment products 50% off
and so much more!
If the weather is fine, it is all outside - if it is a bit iffy, it will be in the old unit. Come and have a poke around!
Nicky and I have busy sorting out the shelves, checking out the cupboards and marking down prices - now is the time catch a bargain!!
Have a wonderful Bank Holiday weekend, grab some sunshine and enjoy some crafting.
Best wishes from Lynn and the Girls. xx
ps: Margaret H and Sarah W, please can you confirm that you have received this? I am hoping I have got it right.

A little birdie told me - Docrafts Urban Stamps - Bird

Nicky Hayden has designed this lovely card using double sided papers from the
Kaisercraft Suga Pop collection available in the shop.

Kaisercraft - Suga Pop collection

She has also used this wonderful 4" x 4"  Docrafts Urban Rubber Stamp called Bird
which is selling out fast!

Nicky has stamped the bird onto various pieces of patterned paper,
cut them out and layered them onto her card.

This technique is known as paper piecing and is a good way to use up your scraps of papers.

She has added a border of coordinating paper to the front and inside of the card.  A little faux stitching and hand written sentiment using a fineliner pen,
completes the delightful design of this card.
