Newsletter - Oct 2010

Hello Ladies

I am sorry that I have been very quiet just lately and not sent out any newsletters. Between running around taking the paints to shows up and down the country, preparing for the Christmas Craft Retreat and trying to train a Labrador puppy life has been pretty hectic. Still, won't be long, all my trips will be over and I can get back to normal routine. Watch out then, I will have lots to tell you.

In the meantime, I just had to get this quick newsletter out to give you the details for the up and coming coach trip to the NEC Hobbycrafts & Crafts at Christmas Show.

The trip will be on the Sunday 7th November, departing Flutterby Crafts at 8.30 am (or sooner if everybody arrives on time!!) arriving at the show shortly around 10 - 10.30am and we will leave the NEC at 4pm to arrive back here around 6pm.

The cost of the trip is £25 per adult, £24 per concession and £17.50 for under 16's.

If anybody is interested in going to the Cake show that is on at the same time, please let me know.

To book your place, please pop into the shop or give us a call on 01635 860900. Payment will be taken at the time of booking.

To my knowledge we already have 20 places taken on the coach, which only leaves 29 - so please book soonest.

That's all for the moment - except for one thing. I have been having a lot of complaints that a lot of you are not receiving your emails. I do apologise for this. It is something to do with the service that I use and the number of email addresses that this goes out to. We are looking into it and will be changing the service very soon, so you should all soon be experiencing my midnight ramblings.

Have a great evening/day.

See you all soon.

Lynn and the Girls xx

ps, I bet you did not believe me when I said it would be a quick one!!!!

The Final Chapter at Crafts Retreats!

Sorry for the separate blog posts regarding the "crafting experience" that was had at the Christmas Crafts Retreat" but Blogger wouldn't let me post sooooo many photos in one post! I just wanted you all to get a feel for the FAB time everyone had with the workshops that were organised by Lynn, Tracy and Nicky.

Now, here is a taster of Nicky and Tracy's workshops........

Here are some stunning gift card wallets using items
from the goodie bags.

A quick break for lunch which was beautifully
presented by the Regency Park Hotel.

All quiet at Nicky's workshop table as everyone gets out
their Woodware cutters and prepares items for their project.

Here is the lovely envelope photo album which could be used for recipe's,
notes, photos etc.

This is what's inside....wouldn't it make a lovely memento of Christmas?

A couple of frames that were made in Tracy's workshop, these were a big hit and the frames sold out in the shop as a result!!

But, of course Lynn has more on order!

Admiring the snowman spinner that was made in Tracy's final workshop.

Lynn gets the prize for the messiest workshop table!

Lynn, Tracy and Nicky are joined in a "Group Hug" photo
and would like to thank all the lovely ladies who came
to the Christmas Crafts Retreat. It was a most enjoyable weekend of
crafting....THANK YOU.

More crafting and frolics!

After a lovely dinner and a good night sleep everyone was keen to finish their breakfast and get down to crafting, well that's why they had come to the Christmas Crafts Retreats!!!!

During the Saturday and Sunday, the workshops were led by Lynn, Nicky and Tracy. Three workshops were held on Saturday and three workshops on Sunday, a total of six projects to be made......what FUN!

Lynn started her workshops by teaching the ladies how to decorate their plain canvass bags into something unique!

Here are the ladies sponging Jo Sonja paint onto their bags matching the colours of the paint to the colours of their serviettes, to be added later.

Once the bags had dried, the next stage was to add the serviettes to their bags. It was all a bit daunting and no one knew how they were eventually going to turn out!

The bags all had their individual colour scheme and looked great hanging out to dry.

Once dry, the bags looked stunning and those ladies who had never tried "Napkin Art" before were quickly inspired by their creations.

And here is one Lynn made earlier!

Over the course of the weekend, between the different stages, the bags were hung out to dry, but Lynn didn't let the ladies rest on their laural's. Another project was soon underway and they were shown how to prepare their calendars.

Here, some of the ladies are applying Jo Sonja paint with a sponge on the calendar date and month blocks.

The wooden calendars have had a white layer of paint applied on top of the gold base layer and the crackle is beginning to show with lovely effect. They have been left to dry for the crackle to work it's magic!

Once dried out, the serviettes were torn and layered onto the wooden base.

Again, the calendars are left to dry.

Here is one I sneaked outside to take a picture.

More tea and cakes , a short rest, a swim in the pool, a visit to the shop and we all headed off to a gala dinner.

A spectacular meal, quiz, (which was hosted by the lovely Grant, that's Lynn's hubby), lots of crafty chat and other frolics from certain tables that shall remain nameless!!!!

A late night to bed for some but the excitement of another day's crafting ahead.

Where have we been?

Last weekend we had our 1st CHRISTMAS CRAFTS RETREATS at the Regency Park Hotel and what a FANTASTIC time we all had. Lots of crafting, playing, chatting, eating and giggles had by all.

There were 3 workshops at any one time. On our 1st evening after dinner Lynn, Nicky and Tracy had us working on our 1st projects. Glass dishes, water bottle labels and notebooks.

Here Lynn is showing us how to prepare and decorate our glass dishes.

Here are some of the dishes drying out using lots of different napkins designs

and here is one of the ladies dishes that is laid out to dry overnight.

On the second workshop Nicky had us all making name labels for our waterbottles, how stunning are these!

On the third workshop of the evening Tracy showed us how to cover notebooks so that we could write down our workshop notes!

Please stay posted when I will show you more fun and frolics of our Saturday workshops.

Friday morning workshops

Here is a lovely Index Booklet designed by Nicky which she demonstrated at her Friday Morning Club last week. I hear that the group have renamed the workshop The Friday Bookclub as it usually has a scrapbook theme to it.

She has used the Bind It All for attaching the index cards in the booklet. You can purchase the Bind It All and the BIA accessories in the shop or through our on-line shop as we have just a few left in stock. The BIA machine and accessories are fabulous for making all sorts of scrapbook projects which can also be used for fun projects with the kids and grandkids.

Nicky has used the K&Company Designer paper which comes in 6 x 6 single sided papers.

These buttons are gorgeous and we have a good selection in stock which add the perfect dimension to your projects.

If you missed Nicky's workshop and would be interested in making this booklet why not give her a call and she may be able to repeat it. She also mentioned that the booklet will be able to hold colour combinations using your ProMarkers so if you attend both of Nicky's Friday workshops you will be in for a real treat!
