Glass Painting Workshop
2nd June 2012 with
Vicki Nicholson

Hi Everybody

Rain, rain go away.  I think we have all had enough now.  My wellies are leaking and I am having a problem finding replacements.  The grass is growing too long and we cannot get it cut.  But the good side is that I have been having a bit of playing time - what else can you do when it is raining? So watch out for some piccies.  Hopefully Joanna will be playing with the camera next weekend.

Now, there is a little bit of bad news - as a result of the rain.   I am cancelling the Crafters Car Boot Sales that was booked for the 19th May.  Sorry about that.  Not only is the rain causing a problem, but the builders are still working on the barn renovation and they won't be finished before next week, so the yard will still be a bit of a mess - not condusive to Car Boot  Sales!!  I will try to get it re-scheduled for later in the year - possibly August or September.

Now, while I am giving you that bit of bad news, I am going to carry on - but don't worry it gets followed by some good news!!

The other bit of bad news is that there will not be any of the regular daytime workshops on the week of the 28th May.  Sorry, but we will have a lovely lady visiting (more of that in a minute) and she will be busy teaching various different groups during the course of the week...........more about that in a minute.

So that is the bad news over with - now here is the good news.

Over the past couple of years we have had some painted glasses on display in the shop - I have put the picture of them at the top of the page, just to remind you.

The lovely lady, Vicki Nicholson, that painted those glasses will be visiting England, from Australia, from the end of May through June.  And she has agreed to run a workshop on the 2nd June, teaching painting on glass!!

This is a one-off special workshop and will not be repeated!!  There will only be 10 places.  It will be run from 1pm 'til 4pm and will cost £25 per head (all materials and refreshments supplied).  Payment due at time of booking.

How exciting is that?  It will cost less than Hubby's weekend round of golf and you will have a stunning glass to show him and a technique learnt for life!!

Vicki is an amazing artist, crafter and teacher.  It has taken us 4 years to persuade her to make the long journey to visit us - it could be another 4 years before we get her back.  So make the most of her visit!

If there are any woodturners or carvers amongst you - Vicki will also be running a workshop, on June 1st - 6pm til 8.30, dedicated to using the Jo Sonja's Paints and Mediums on your wood.

Vicki will be teaching such things as:
Smoked Marbling
Iridescent Crackling
and Tortoise shell

Again, places will be limited to 10 people and will cost £25 per head (all materials and refreshments supplied). Payment due at time of booking.

This picture is a sample of Vicki's carving and use of Jo Sonja's.  The original is currently in the shop - come and take a look.  It is gorgeous.

Remember, if you are a member of UKDP - Vicki is teaching a range of workshops around the country.  We are having some here, at Flutterby Crafts on the 16th, 17th and 18th June.  More details are available through the UKDP.  If in doubt give me a call.

Now, for all of you that have been avoiding us while the building works have been going on (and on, and on, etc) - I have been told that all the builders will be gone by the end of the week!!!  I am not holding my breath, but I am hopeful.  This means that the yard will be cleaned up and re-gravelled!!  Yippee!!!

We might even be able to put some pretty flowers in border at the front of the shop.

So make sure to come and see us.  We have loads of new gorgeous papers, buttons, beads, flowers, wools and all sorts to inspire.

Lets hope the sun shines this weekend and the grass starts to dry out.  It has two weeks to chirp up before I have to don the fancy dress & hat for my visit to London!!

Right, now, I think I am going to have to go.........I have just seen the mess that Buzz and Kite have made of a stuffed sock -------- how far do you think the stuffing from sock can be spread?  The answer is A LONG WAY!  And will they be clearing it up - No.  They are fast asleep without a care in the world.

Have a good weekend and remember to get your name down for that glass painting workshop.

Lynn and the Girls.

Look at our beautiful new roses.  They are gorgeous.
