'Snow Joke!!

Well, Ladies and Gentlemen, I have just earned myself an extra glass of the white wine tonight!!  I have discovered the joy of a snow shovel on fresh snow and I MUST have burnt quite a few calories clearing the shop front.

So, the main roads are fairly clear, the driveway up to the shop is good, the pathway is FANTASTIC after my sterling efforts - so we are now open as normal. Mind you, I would wear boots for the deeper bits on the gravel!

Now, we were supposed to have been having a razzle dazzle launch of our new craft ranges - but, because of the bad weather, we have put it on hold for the time being.  Nevermind, if you want to come pay us a visit, I will have the kettle on and I am sure I will be able to find a treat for you!

See you all soonest, keep safe and keep crafting.

Bad news and good news - well, more like exciting news!!

Well, today is a mixture of good news and bad news.  I will start with the bad news.

This morning I arrived at the shop to find that the shop window had been ripped apart by some unsavoury little b****rs.  They caused a lot of damage to the window (so we are now sitting in the freezing cold waiting for the repair team) and, heaven knows how they reached it, they got the charity tin again!

I said to the girls that they must have arms like Twizzle, unfortunately I am the only one old enough to remember Twizzle!

This is the 4th time we have had an attempted break-in between the 3 units and I am decidedly becoming less and less amused.  The only good thing about it is that the landlord has now, definately got to replace the window, which is a blessing!!

Anyway, lets move onto some less depressing thoughts and give you the good news!!

We have just taken stock of all our new Spring Goodies and we have some delicious bits for you all to enjoy.

Firstly there is all the new collections from Papermania.  We have officially become a Docrafts Creativity Stockist.  Which means that we have all their latest releases (and the magazine).  They are beautiful and they have even inspired ME!!

This is just a little taster - you ought to see the embellishments and stamps that come with these!!

Oh, there is also dies and embossing folders!!  We have really enjoy selecting this lot and we hope you will enjoy it as much as we do.

Then, if that was not enough, the girls are busy at this very moment sorting out the new Grace Taylor ranges - a scrapbookers delight!!

Here is a peek at some of the albums:

Grace Taylor Butterfly Collage Scrapbook Album         Grace Taylor Vintage Floral Scrapbook Album

The papers that go with the albums are gorgeous and the embellishments are mouth-watering!!

Ho, hum - don't think any of it is going to stay around for long!!

So, with the snow that is due this weekend come and get stocked up ready for the enforced crafting time.  Mother nature is wonderful, building in crafting time for us all - she understands us girls!

Take care.  Lynn xx

Flower Pot slider card

Lynn has made this blooming gorgeous Flower Pot slider card, using new papers from Papermania Capsule 12x12 Paper Pack- Spots & Stripes Pastels, that should have arrived by the end of the week.

Papermania Capsule 12x12 Paper Pack- Spots & Stripes Pastels

Lynn got her inspiration for this card from the latest issue of the Docrafts magazine.  The card has been decorated using a flower punch with decorative papers.

She has used a mixture of buttons from the popular "Fill-a-Pot" available in the shop. Effectively, you pick your buttons and fill a pot for 50p.  If you pop into the shop and it will become crystal clear!

Here is a side view of the card to show how it stands up, to be admired!

The slider part of the card is ready for your own greeting.

I have been informed that there have been daily deliveries of gorgeous SPRING papers in the shop.

If you can't wait, you can always take a peep on-line at The Mulberry Bush to see our range of papers, particularly the Papermania and Kaisercraft section for recent stock.

January 2013

Well, there it is - another Christmas out of the way and another New Year beginning.  New house and a new lifestyle, so I have made some New Year resolutions (for a change!!):

I am going to (finally) do the painting that I have wanted to do for so long - I fancy doing a big flower on a big canvass!!

I am going to do some scrapbooking - not sure what, maybe our wedding (39 years too late!) or the Children or the dogs - I need to decide.

I am going to get out walking more - the dogs could do with the exercise as much as I could!

I am going to (with the help of the walking) loose weight - I'll probably need help there!

What is your New Year resolution?

Let me know and all names will be put in a hat to win a £10 gift voucher.

Christmas 2012

Fancy Decorating a Canvass?
Watch for the
workshop on
the 9th February!
Hi Everybody
This is going to be my last newsletter for 2012, it is so hard to believe how fast this year has gone and how much has happened.
I hope nobody has been badly affected by all this rain. Our garden is like a quagmire and the park where I walk the dogs is well flooded, but they love it - all that swimming. Typical Labradors!!
It looks like we are due to be having more of the same over the next week. So much for a white Christmas!!
If you are feeling housebound and fed up from all the rain and the aftermath of Christmas, I will be in the shop on Thursday, Friday and Saturday next week. If you want to join me having a crafting play (because that is probably all I will be doing!), you are welcome. I did it last year and we had good fun. It is a drop in session and very relaxed.
Anyway, here is a reminder of the opening times over the next two weeks:
Saturday 22nd December - 9.30 'til 4pm
Sunday 23rd December - Closed
Monday 24th December - Closed
Tuesday 25th December - Closed
Wednesday 26th December - Closed
Thursday 27th December - 11 'til 3pm
Friday 28th December - 11 'til 3pm
Saturday 29th December - 11 'til 3pm
Sunday 30th December - Closed
Monday 31st December - Closed
Tuesday 1st January - Closed
Wednesday 2nd January - Open as normal
I have, also, managed to prepare the workshop brochure for the first 3 months of 2013!!
It has all of our regular classes and I will be adding specials as the time goes on. The first one being the Canvass painting (see picture above). I have used mine to show off a beautiful picture of my Granddaughter, but you can put anything with you or it looks great just on its own. The full details will be out in the first week of the New Year.

Remember, if you cannot make a regular - you can always arrange your own class.
Well that is it! Can you believe that I can write such a short newsletter. I am going to go off now and finish organising my first Christmas, with GC, in our new house. I have FOUR full days off, wonderful.
Have a great Christmas and best wishes for 2013 - may the sun shine for you next year.
With best wishes,
Lynn and the Girls. x

Christmas card using wooden reindeer embellishment

I love this Christmas card by Catherine Inglis using festive colours coordinated with Kraft card and the wooden reindeer embellishment.

Wooden Reindeer Embellishments

The wooden reindeer embellishment comes in various designs, which are self adhesive and approximately 2mm thick.

Catherine has used a Marianne Design Craftables Round Die.  The Dies are designed for cutting and embossing with most Die cutting machines including the Cuttlebug and Big Shot.

Marianne Design Craftables Round Die

Love this ribbon which has been tied in a simple knot.

Catherine has layered a combination of Kaisercraft papers with the checked and dotty A4 card found here

Finally, a Kaisercraft rub-on transfer has been used as the sentiment for the card.

Here is a photo highlighting the different elements giving plenty of dimension to the card.

Versatile Die Cut Topper Sheets for cardmaking

Here are the final 2 projects inspired by Nicky Hayden to make as many cards and projects using Foiled  Die Cuts Toppers from this one sheet.

Here is the final card using a small circular doily to accent the Die Cut.  Nicky has also stamped and embossed the stars and added a sentiment stamp.

Please check earlier blog posts to see the collection of cards and projects by Nicky Hayden, which show the versatility of using Die Cut Topper sheets found in our store or at The Mulberry Bush.

Easel Card and Pillow Box with Christmas Foiled Die Cut Sheets

Following on from yesterday's post, when Nicky challenged the ladies to make as many projects from a foiled die cut sheet.....here are some more!

Nicky showed an example of how a Die Cut tag can be used simply, but decoratively, together with a Corrugated Brown Pillow Box and embellishments.

She also made this festive Easel card using A4 Holly designed cardstock together with two foiled die cuts and, a silver Christmas sentiment peel off.

This die cut sheet is adorable and there are plenty more in our shop.....come and see!

Deer With Robins - Die Cut foiled sheets

At a recent workshop Nicky Hayden challenged the ladies to make as many cards as they could using one sheet of die cut foiled toppers.

Nicky has used an A4 sheet of Holly designed cardstock, decorative corner peel offs, self adhesive rhinestones and silver ribbon. which are available in our shop, Flutterby Crafts.

Nicky also used the same Die Cut toppers from the same sheet to make this simple but decorative festive bag.

These white paper bags are available in the shop and she has used the same supplies as above but added a circle die cut topper and the addition of a red bell attached to the silver bow.

Please pop back during the week to see additional projects using the same foiled Die Cut Topper sheets.

Nicky Hayden has made this fun card using the Stampendous stamp,
There's just Snowbody like you!!

Stampendous CRR126 Cling - Snowbody Frame

Canvas using Kaisercraft papers, Turtle Dove collection.

I know I have been a bit over zealous with the photos in today's post but this canvas designed by Nicky Hayden using Kaisercraft papers is absolutely stunning.

There is so much detail and different papercraft techniques here on this canvas that, it just adds richness to the whole project.

I love how Nicky has rolled the edges of the double sided papers and torn some, to add dimension. The twine, velvet ribbon and bell can all be found in the shop.

The Kaisercraft papers from the Turtle Dove collection called Twig & Berry have stunning designs and ooze quality.

The Christmas papers are available in the shop or on-line at The Mulberry Bush.

The Poinsettia's have been cut using a Marianne Design Die which have also been cut out of the Kaisercraft papers.  The lace/velvet ribbon comes in a selection of colours.

Here is a photo showing you how the different elements and paper techniques that Nicky has used just simply work together.

A final photo of Nicky's canvas is on display in the shop, if you would like to take a closer look when you are next in the shop.
