Festival Chicks Scrapbook Page

I really do love this scrapbook page by Catherine Inglis titled "Festival Chicks". It just reminds my of the glorious few weeks of summer we had a while ago!  The colours she has used ooze warmth and I just feel like grabbing one of those ice creams to cool me down!

Catherine has used her Cricut die cutting machine to make her title, layering the papers to coordinate with her page. The papers she has used are 12 x 12 double sided from the Fine and Sunny Collection (named Raindrops) by Kaisercraft.

Catherine has used her Cricut again to cut out the flowers in decreasing sizes and secured them with a pearl brad.

Splatter painting on paper and canvas is all the rage at the moment.  Here, Catherine has used Jo Sonja's paints to great effect.

Finally Catherine has used some felt die cut flowers, buttons, and cream ric rac to emphasise the Tonic Studio Border Punched Core'dinations ColorCore card stock.

Catherine will be starting her Scrapbook workshops shortly, so please enquire at the shop for the dates and times if you are interested in scrapbooking.

Newsletter - August 2012

Woweeee!!
Well done,
Team GB

Hi Everybody

I have got to start this newsletter by congratulating Team GB and their performance to date.

What a marvellous job they are doing for us.  Each day, during these Olympics, I have watched every member of the team giving their all.  Many have won medals, fantastic - some have not been so lucky, their time has not come yet - but all have done us proud.  Well done!

Hopefully, this will not be too long a newsletter - I don't want to drag you away from the excitement of the Olympics for too long.

So much is happening here.  On a personal level - we have sold the house, so I am busy getting all of that organised.  How much fun is it trying to get a new telephone line installed whilst making sure that the old line does not get disconnected too early?  BT need to get a communications company to teach it a few lesson on...umm...let me think...oh, yes....communication!!  They are hopeless.  And I know that many of you will understand what I am saying!!

If you come near the shop at the moment you will hear all about it.

Hopefully, it will not take too long and we will be moved into our little dolls house and I will be able to settle back down.

I hope you are all having a good summer break, if only the weather would sort itself out - is it going to be hot? is it going to rain?  ho, hum!  Tonight it is feeling so chilly, it is hard to believe that we were so hot only 10 days ago.  Still, hopefully I have got something that will cheer you up.

If you read my last newsletter, you would have read about the bead and wool shop closing - officially it happened two weeks ago - but we still have some beads in there and we do not loose the room until the end of August.  So, Cate came up with a good idea for how we can use this room for the next few weeks - we are going to have a

So get in there quick and bag a bargin!!

Thats all for now.  Watch out for the next newsletter which will have the workshop brochure for the Autumn, details of our Christmas launch and the trip to the NEC.  Lots coming up.

With best wishes from Lynn and the Girls.

Memories - Kaisercraft Scrapbook page.

Catherine Inglis has made another wonderful Scrapbook Page using Kaisercraft papers around the theme of Freyja feeding the ducks!

Kaisercraft papers are in a league of there own, they ooze quality and, look how the colours and designs coordinate so beautifully.  The selection of papers that Catherine has used are from the Magnolia Grove collection by Kaisercraft.
The Magnolia Grove collection features beautiful floral vintage inspired papers in rich warm colours.
12x12, printed, photo friendly, double-sided, 150gsm scrapbook paper.

Catherine has used a wooden embellishment which she has outlined with a pen and decorated with flat backed pearls.

Kaisercraft Rub On Word - Memories

She has also used a Kaisercraft rub on word transfer.

Here, Catherine she has used a wooden 'F' wooden shape as a subtle embellishment for Freyja's name.

Look out for Catherine's scrapbook workshops when the Autumn workshop brochure is released in a few weeks.

Bella in Pot - Wild Rose Studio stamp

Following the release of the new Xmas Bella Collection from Wild Rose Studio, Nicky has been busy making some cards using her Promarkers.

She has used the 'Bella in Pot' A7 acrylic stamp set

A snowy day, sprigs of holly, an adorable elephant and a festive message - this stamp is all you need to make beautiful festive cards.
Bella in Pot
Nicky has used this lovely C6 Kraft card for her base card.

C6 Pure Kraft Cards with Envelopes - Pack of 5

Pack of 5 High quality pure smooth kraft 280gsm cards and envelopes.

She has then stamped her 'Bella in Pot' and die cut a heart shaped which is layered onto a die cut scalloped heart using Silver Mirri board card.

Nicky has then coloured in her stamped image using Promarkers.

Finally, Nicky has added some organza ribbon and filled in some snowflakes with a white pen.

If you like making your own Christmas cards, this would be quick and easy, if you have lots to make and be ready to post in time or Christmas 2012!

Napkin Art on glass bowl.

Two lovely ladies popped into the shop last week on a detour from Essex.  Lynn was sat at her crafting table in the shop and demonstrated to the ladies how to decorate a glass bowl using Jo Sonja's glass and tile medium with napkins.  She had a good old crafty chat with them while she decorated her glass bowl.

Jo Sonja's Glass and Tile Part A 250ml Bottle
Glass and Tile Primer (Part A) prepares glass, glazed ceramics and enamel for painting, providing additional bonding for the paint.

Jo Sonja's Glass and Tile Part B 250ml Bottle
Glass & Tile Medium (Part B) can be added to Jo Sonja's Artists' Colours to make them suitable for painting on glass, glazed ceramics and enamel.  It should be used in conjunction with Glass & Tile Primer if item cannot be cured in the oven.

We have a large collection of napkins in our shop and on line here at The Mulberry Bush.

Here is a close up photograph of the glass bowl.  Lynn has yet to paint the inside of the bowl with Jo Sonja's paints and then apply some Jo Sonja's All Purpose Sealer.
Jo Sonja's All Purpose Sealer 250ml Bottle

If you are interested, Lynn Courtney runs Home Décor workshops on the 2nd Saturday of every month.  This workshop will resume after the summer holidays but if you wish more details about learning techniques of napkin art, working on wood, playing with paints, crackle and much more, transforming your everyday objects please give Lynn a call on 01635 860900.

Best Wishes - Stepper Card

Lynn recently made this stepper card after being inspired by Nicky's stepper card seen here in this blog post http://flutterbycraftsberkshire.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/kanban-vespa-frames.html

She has used the lovely Craft Creations dotted cardstock for the base card which
comes in A4 sheets.

The small white dots on purple in a lovely card weight of 240gsm card.
It is also available in gingham and stripes in various colours.

Lynn has layered the topper using the Tonic Studio Shape-Mates Oval .

Shape~Mates Ovals

A lovely die cut sentiment has been inked around the edges and placed above an organza ribbon.

If you need help with the dimensions, just pop into the shop where Lynn and Nicky
are sure to help you out.

Have a go at making a stepper card, they are fun.
