Good Morning Berkshire!!

We have been busy.

I was weighing and measuring Toho Seed Beads all night the other night and yesterday evening was spent making the most gorgeous necklace with some new beads in at Flutterby crafts, I was helping Katie with her workshop. The ladies all did a superb Job.

Me thinks my ladies will love it in Plymouth, so will buy the beads so we can do it all together.

Yesterday I spent a lovely afternoon talking to Richard of Scrapdoodles and looking over his yummy range of papers. Including Flair designs, 3 bugs in a rug and others. Poor man I think he was glad to get out of there eventually. All I can say is over the next few months, you are all going to be totally spoilt for choice.

Today I am setting up for the big tool workshops, and hopefully at some point we may have a delivery of Panduros Tilda in.(not to be confused with the Magnolia range)I have been fortunate enough to work with these items before and I must say the papers are absolutely lovely.

Gotta go Lynn Is ready to crack the whip. Who Ever Said a demonstrators Job was about playing all day, definately needs to meet LYNN LOL!!!!!

SEED BEADERS - ITS CHRISTMAS!!!

Well it certainly feels like it.

Yesterday afternoon was an exciting one for the Bead Shop.

We had a delivery of large Shell and Wooden beads, but not only that...........

Seed Beaders, We had our first consignment of TOHO Seed Beads.
We have 11s' and 15's rounds. Hexs', Triangles and Cubes.

OOHHH! They are lush! Last night we started getting them all nice and packaged.

These beads are to die for. So uniformed in size. So all those intricate seed bead patterns, are finished to perfection.

So come on in and get your fix. More will be arriving Soon.

You better get in there quick, thats if you don't want myself and Nicky to nab them all before you have a chance to look. Unfortunately the Acrylic ones we chose were out of stock at the supplier, but that does not distract from the fact that there here!

WE HAVE THEM! AT LONG LAST !! WOO HOO!!!!

I have already chosen at least four I want LOL!!

Joanna Says:-Bouquet of Spring flowers

This was really fun to make. I cut all the flowers using Bazzill Bling card and the gorgeous Craft Creations Paper. I cut the flowers on my Cricut at different sizes and layered them. The buttons are so lovely and are new at Flutterby Crafts. They come in so many shapes and colours it's so hard to decide which packet to go for! Some of the flowers were embossed with Swiss Dots using my Cuttlebug. The flowers were glued onto kebabs sticks and the tin was found for 99p at a large hardware store. I cut very thin strips of white paper and scrunched them up for the filling in the bucket. Finally I added a ribbon to the tin. I then spent more time arranging the display of flowers than actually making them!! A really enjoyable project

Hello Peeps, Long time no speak.

Good morning.

Hello and good morning to you all.I am a bit bleary eyed this morning.

I am up in Berkshire at the moment having a fun time.
Would just like to say hello to everyone who stopped by at Chepstow to say hello, and to purchase the Just Tracys Designs. Didn't they do well.
I was very nervous but was delighted with the comments. Those that bought; I hope they managed to get inked up over the weekend or were you all out enjoying the glorious sunshine. Ohh quick note they do look lovely on shrink plastic, perfect button size.

Right Now Lynn, from flutterby has stopped looking over my shoulder as I type I can say, she is a SLAVE DRIVER!!!! Lol!

She had me up till past midnight on Saturday Drinking in wine. As you all know I don't touch a drop of the hard stuff, Ha Ha. (Lynn and Michelle Saxon forced me to do it Ofichers, honest HIC!).

Then Sunday was Working in the shop tidying things away.

Yesterday we spent a lovely day, Walking Kez and Kip, two of the most adorable Black labs. we walked around the woods for over 2 miles, me walked aren't I good. This was followed by a lovely day out in Winchester where we went and had a look at the Cathedral, it is beautiful. Did some retail therapy and had the most lovely lunch. (The Waiter was to die for).

Then after our evening meal off we went to the shop to finish off building shelves in the play room. Well Grant builded, we got in the way.

Happy St Patrick's Day

So, Joanna has been busy again!

Here is her latest creation, together with the instructions. I hope you all enjoy it and have a good St Patrick's Day.

Wow, this was so easy to make using my Cricut Design Studio and I borrowed a Paper Doll Dress Up (PPDU) Cricut cartridge as I don’t own this myself.

I found a shamrock hidden in the PPDU cartridge. It is not visible from the back of the cartridge box but can be found in the booklet. I welded and cut the shamrocks in Bazzill Bling cardstock and then cut another shamrock in the lovely Craft Creations paper available at Flutterby Crafts. I then printed my text “Happy St Patrick’s Day” using word art in Microsoft Word which was layered onto a scallop circle. I found a green button in my stash and threaded a ribbon through the holes. Finally, I added some green Kaiser gems for the bling factor.

If you don’t have the CDS the shamrock could be cut out and layered onto your base card.

Of course the shamrock idea can also be used as a Good Luck card if you change the text.

I love it when an idea comes together so quickly ……… Happy St Patrick’s Day!

The Latest Newsletter

Hello Everybody.

I hope you are all very well and managing to avoid any of the winter bugs that have been going around. There have been some very long lingering colds and coughs out there, but the spring IS on its way - the snowdrops are out in my garden!!!

This is just a very quick e-mail this week. It is quite late in the evening and I want to get a good nights sleep, so I am going to get this out to you all so that my mind is clear and, hopefully, a peaceful night will come my way.

So the things that I want to let you know about are:

Firstly there is a free demonstration of Parchment Craft in the Paper shop this Saturday. Jane will be showing you how this beautiful craft is done and, if you ask nicely, she might just let you have a bit of a go. So if you want to find out about Parchment Craft or would like to have a try come into the shop between 10am and 4pm.

This demonstration is the launch pad for the new Parchment Club which is being launched next Thursday. We will also look, in the future, to setting up a weekend session according to demand. Full details are on the website.

Secondly, the Saturday Crop will be on this Saturday. It is not on the calendar because there had been a private booking for the workshop. The private booking has been cancelled and, I am happy to say, the Flutterby Memory Keepers are going to take up their usual slot. Hopefully some of you will come to join Pamela and the Girls.

Talking of Pamela and the Saturday Crop reminds me (don't ask about the conection with my thoughts!!) - I know some of you look for somewhere to have lunch or a snack when you visit and I am very pleased to let you know that the Taste Of England is under new management, has been thoroughly renovated and should be open from this weekend. I popped in there early this week and it looks very good. Judy, the new landlady, brought around a copy of the menu and it looks delicious.

Another thing for this weekend, for you Papercrafting Ladies, I have just received the brand new Bind-it-All V2 (the pretty pink one!!) and for this weekend only I have a couple on special offer. There are two Bind-it-All Machines with an RRP of £69.99 available at a special one-off price of £59.99. Only one last thing to mention - do you remember me saying that I was going to have a weekend puddle jumping in my last newletter. Well, we had a wonderful weekend with Helen, Jet and my Parents and we found some great puddles. I have put some pictures on the blog - although I have to say that my favourite picture is the last one!!!!!

Puddle Jumping is such fun!!

In my last newsletter I said that I was going to have a weekend with Jet and we were going to go puddle jumping - well, here is the evidence that we did it and did we have fun!! It was great fun, but - as you can see - it was very tiring. If only I had some time to do some scrapbooking, I could do a great page with these. Hopefully I will get to do it one day soon.

Hi Everybody.

Well, I sat and rested. I vegged out on dvd's and was anaethatised on Benolyn Original (highly recommended for a good nights sleep!!). So now I need to kick start myself and get back into the swing of things.

I FINALLY got around to organising the workshop lists for this year. Sorry it has taken so long. I actually updated the website last weekend, but forgot to write this so that you would all know! Anyway you can find all the details on www.flutterbycrafts.co.uk

I have also put details of a jewellery day that we are holding on the 7th February and a beginner’s rubber stamping session on the 21st February. So things are starting to move.

Watch out for the Craft Weekend later in the year, when we will be decorating boxes and bags and all sorts of other bits (anything that moves will be crackled!!). If I can get the blanks, would anybody be interested in decorating a big mirror like the one in the shop?

While I am thinking about it, if you go on the website could you, please, look at the poll that is on the bottom of the page on the left hand side? I would like to know what you would all like to see happening with the workshops.

I have added a few bits to the gallery from my Little Sister (bless her!) and from Joanna, who is producing some stunning cards with her Cricut. I will be adding more of Joanna's cards to the blog and forum during the next few days.

Talking of the forum, if you go on there you will see some pictures of JennyJ's beaded snowflake. I am hoping that Jenny will run a class on making snowflakes when she is next in the country. Would you be interested in this? Please let me know.

So, what else have we got to look forward to? Well, I know what I can look forward to - one of my babies is coming home for the weekend next week and she is bringing HER baby!! And it gets better than that - the parents are joining us as well. So four generations of fun. (I suppose I had better get going on doing some housework.) We are going to (hopefully!) find some puddles to jump in and some ducks to feed. Great fun!

I am busy trying to finalise some projects that have been kicking around for awhile. I have (finally!) put together the two boxes that have been sitting in the shop waiting to be finished and I have promised Grant that I will complete the frames for the pictures he painted for our bedroom (I only started them last August!!). Wonderful!

Well, that was a good old rambling newsletter! Loads of questions to answer and information to absorb. Make a cup of tea and start reading again. Hopefully I have inspired you to have some fun this year. Let the doom and gloomers keep themselves occupied. We are going to go into this year with the ambition to make all our own gifts and have some great fun.

Er, der!!

I have just looked at the blog and realised that my postings went in reverse order. I wrote about Joanna's card, then put the cards on - but my writing has gone AFTER the cards, I am stupid. Just read down and you will get the gist.

In my next life I am going to be born a dog or a cat, that way I will not have to worry about using the internet!!!!

More of Joanna's Thank You Cards

Here I have mounted and layered Black Bazzill Bling and Black Market Paper Society stock. I then die cut a scallop rectangle Next I embossed onto white Bazzill Basic card using the 'Textile! embossing folder which I purchased from Flutterby Crafts a few weeks ago. Easy so far, and it gets easier ..... I used my Cricut to cut 'Thanks' on shadow on black Bazzill and layered with white glitter card. The Cricut cartridge used is Doodletype which is one of my favourite font cartridges. The addition of back ribbon and Voila

This is my 1st attempt at using my Cricut Design Studio which I have not used since I purchased it 6 months ago!

In the CDS I welded and cut a flower shape using the Black Market Paper Society stock and adhered it onto Black Bazzill to give it some strength. I then cut a scallop circle on my Cricut using some more of the BMPS stock and punched holes around the rim. Next I layered white glittered card with the Cuttlebug 'with Gratitude' cut and emboss folder for the 'thanks' lettering.

Thank you card using Cricut

Well, I have loved making lots of different types of Christmas cards on my Cricut but I am in need of a break from the festive season. Lynn has some lovely new papers coming in daily to Flutterby Crafts. I noticed the lovely Black and White reversible designs by the Black Market Paper Society. There are oodles of reversible designs to get your creative juices going! Here is a very simple card....... using the Joys of the Season cricut cartridge. In fact, the present design can be used at any time of the year and I have used up all my scraps of Christmas papers up and posted my thank you cards this year in record time!!

I used my Cuttlebug Swiss dots folder to emboss the background on Bazzill Bling. I then used my Cuttlebug With Gratitude cut and emboss folder for the thanks lettering.

Joanna's Christmas Cards

Bit late, I know - but keep in mind for next year.................

Cricut Card - Lots of love at Christmas by Joanna

I made this card for Christmas with my husband in mind ........(how sweet!!!).

The photo may not show very well the gorgeous DCWV silver metallic card. I used my Joy and Cheer Cuttlebug folder for the embossed words. The metallic cardstock shows up the embossing really clearly ....... I love it!

As you know I can't be parted from my Cricut, so again I used the Joys of the Season cartridge (JOTS). I cut out the heart dies with my Cuttlebug and layered them. A leaf punch was used and sprinkled with silver balls. So quick and easy.

The Cricut, JOTS cartridge and Cuttlebug are all available to order from Flutterby Crafts. In fact I popped into Flutterby Crafts today and noticed that Lynn has the last Joys of the Season cartridge left in the shop ........... ideal Christmas present for good girls!!!

Unfortunately, because Tracy was computer less and because of a glitch in my emails and my incompetence at signing on to this, I was unable to put blog and card pictures together! I have now got myself sorted, so here goes...................



I am about to load a couple of Joanna Christmas card and some of her Thank you cards, together with some words from her. Joanna has always made beautiful cards and she is a wiz with the Cricut and the Cuttlebug. The combination of her design flair together with the machinery is stunning. So - I go to visit my Little Sister for a few days. She has been off of work for a few months recovering from an operation. She is not healing as well as she should and she is B.O.R.E.D in a BIG way. Now, being a good BigSis, I take her some bits to keep herself occupied. And this is the result!! I am not sure whether I am going to let her have the credit for doing good work or if I am going to take the credit for being a good teacher!!!! Either way, I hope you enjoy the photos and find some inspiration.

I hope you have all had a good Christmas. I had a lovely time, sat and did nothing - except watch Mama Mia and a dvd of Micheal McIntyre (very funny!) and went to see my favourite little girl!! I did not even play on the 'puter. This is my first day back - I was not feeling very well leading up to Christmas, so I made myself have a complete break from it all. I am feeling a lot better now.

Merry Christmas, Everybody.

It seems like only five minutes since I sent out last years Christmas email and what a busy year it has been. Plenty of ups, some downs, but overall not a bad year.

Grant and I have had lots of lovely time watching Jet grow from a gorgeous baby of last Christmas to a beautiful, active and articulate little girl of this Christmas. She now owns a pair of funky wellies and she loves jumping in puddles, just like her mum used to enjoy doing. It will be lovely to see Helen, Nick and Jet settled and enjoying the first Christmas in their new home later this week.

Philip and Katie will also be spending their fist Christmas in their new home, (How my babies have grown!) leaving Grant and I to play Derby & Joan at home alone.

The girls and I are looking forward to quite a long holiday this year. I have put our opening times on the website, you can click here for the full details. Basically we are closing at lunchtime on Christmas Eve and re-opening on Tuesday. It is the longest time that I have closed the shop since we opened four years ago. But we have been so busy this year with all the moving that I think we need to have this break, recharge our creative batteries!

I know this means that you will have to go without your craft shopping fix for a full five days, but I have something up my sleeve to cheer you all up once we re-open next week. Our 'January' sale will start on Tuesday the 30th December.

There will be 25% off of all Christmas stock in the papershop, 10% off of everythings else in both shops. On top of that I will be putting out extra special offers and bargain bins. The sale will last until the 4th of January. How does that sound?

So now, that leads us onto next year and what is coming up. I was hoping to have the workshops lists updated and ready by now but, if you have been in the shop during the past week or so you will know that I have been a bit unwell, so I have not managed to update as fast as I expected. The details will be on the website by the new year, I promise!

I think we are all looking forward to moving into the new year. Although we have had some good time this year (not least with the moving of the shops) it has been filled with a lot of worrying moments with doom & gloom exasperated by the government and the press - and I know that a lot of you have very good reasons to look forward to a new year - so I would like to end this newsletter by wishing you all a very merry Christmas and all the best wishes for 2009.

Hi Tracy (me) Is still without her computer and to top it all off, when I went over to my mums yesterday to upload the challenge cards. MSN has wiped my e-mail account Clean of all my e-mails.

Good Morning. It is soooo cold and frosty outside. But, of course, that does make it feel more like Christmas!
It has been manic around here.
We were asked to arrange the ladies gifts for the Sargeants Mess Christmas Draw at Hermitage barracks for this weekend. 70 hand decorated glass dishes and candles (plus bag!) later..........I am feeling at the moment that if I NEVER see another glass dish or serviette or candle again it will be too soon!! I will try to get a photo of them before they go out. I must say, though, they are looking fabulous. I almost wish I was going myself.
The www.josonjas-uk.co.uk website is nearly completed. Hurray!! So Tracy and I can move on from that very soon now. And, hopefully, I will be able to spend some time next week updating the www.flutterbycrafts.co.uk website with all of nexts years workshops. How hunky dory would that be?
If any of you have been missing Tracy and noticed that she has not been on the 'puter for a bit, her hard-drive has died - poor love! And she has been working like made all over the place. Should all be back to normal soon.
It has been one hell of mad, bad and busy year this year. But hopefully things have moved on and next year will be more settled.

Been so Busy

Well it is that time of Year, We apologise that things have been quiet on here for a bit. To be honest things behind the scenes are manic. I have been working so hard on the Jo Sonjas Website and Lynn has been busy with the setting up the new side of that business. The Girls in the shop have been working hard to on samples and future workshops.

So Please accept our humble apologise for the interim.

But it is nice to know That Joanna keeps us on our toes and she has sent me this lovely card to show you all. Using the cricut.

Santa's hat - using the Cricut by Joanna

I used the fantastic Joys of the Season Cricut cartridge to cut out Santa's hat for this card. The lettering used can be from any of the Cricut font cartridges. For those of you who know me red is not really my colour but this Christmas swirls paper from Flutterby Crafts is lovely. I have used Bazzill Bling cardstock, gold card and white glitter card. The embellishments are punches. So quick and easy .... give it a go!

Hey, I have just seen the card that have been posted for the first challenge. Well, what can I say - they are gorgeous, and I hope they bring inspiration to so many crafters. Thank you, Ladies.
I hope over time I get to know you all a lot better. Lets hope things are coming up Roses for all of us!!
It has been a very tiring few weeks but, hopefully, it is reaching the end of manic work and things are getting (slowly) into place.
My new office is sorted, the workshop is tidy (after a fashion!) and the shops are organised (until any new stock arrives!!!)
(We all need to work on getting Tracy up here now!!)
The coach trip last weekend went off without a hitch. Not many people came with us this year so I probably will not be organising it again. I must say, I was very disappointed with the show. It would have interested new crafters, but for us old hands it has not changed a bit over the past 4 years - the stalls are the same, selling the same. Nothing new seems to be coming out at the moment, just re-hashed! It will be interesting to see what the New Year brings.

I have been spending far too much money recently at Flutterby’s but with all the gorgeous Christmas cardstock it’s sooooo hard to resist. Thought you might like to see my recent Cricut cards using the Baby Bug. Since purchasing my Cricut from Lynn last year I have not been able to stop cardmaking. I love my Cricut with a passion. It is so easy to use but beware the cartridges do become addictive to collect! The Joys Of The Season (JOTS) cartridge is fantastic. There are so many lovely cuts that I am slowly working my way through this cartridge. It’s a good job there are a few more card making weeks till Christmas!

The other day I showed my daughter Alice the following Christmas cards. Alice is 8 yrs old (my biggest critic) and she said they were “COOL”. Hope you like them as much as she does!

Snowflake card
This was a very quick card to make. I used the DCWV Metallic card with the Craft Creations paper. The swirls were begging to be glittered but don’t show up very well on the photo. I die cut the scallop square highlighted with a white pen. Bazill Bling was used and embossed with the Cuttlebug folder. The snowflake was cut using the Joys Of The Season (JOTS) Cricut cartridge. I cut the snowflake again with shadow all being accented with the gorgeous Kaiser Kraft pearls (which I can’t get enough of!).

I used Joys Of The Season (JOTS) Cricut cartridge for the snowflakes cut at various sizes accented with pale blue gemstones. . Bazill Bling cardstock was embossed with the Snowflakes folder. Plantin Schoolbook cartridge was used for the text using DCWV Metallic card. Craft Creations paper was used for the background. All items available at Flutterby’s and cartridges available to order.

Good morning, Everybody.

I have just had an email from Deborah Foulkes. At last Saturdays workshop she was waiting for a very happy event. Her daughter was due to make her a Grandma at any time. That 'anytime' happened yesterday!!

Congratulations, Deborah and very well done, Sarah. A bouncing 9lb 12oz boy called William. Not a dry eye in the house.



I feel that there will be loads of cuddling and not much crafting done this weekend!!

Something Pretty For you!!

Well, it is only a week to go before the monthly Challenge starts, right here!!!!

I hope the DT are all busying away to get the designs to me.

So in the mean time. I hope everybody going to the NEC on Sunday has a great time.
:-( I am not going, Boo Hoo, I have a demonstration in my Home town to do.

What a weekend! Having had an early (very early) start yesterday it has been a very interesting, great fun and relaxing weekend.

The Christmas Gift making day was extremely successful for the ladies that took part. I keep meaning to take photos on the workshop days so that you can all get a feel for it, but I get carried away and forget. Anyway, Nicky and I made everybody work like mad to decorate a beautiful glass bowl, a candle with matching mat and a memoboard. It was hard work, but great fun. Then Katie came in and things quietened down while everybody made handbag charms. Not bad for a days work!

Then I had my day off of work (Thanks to Catherine & Toni looking after the shop with some help from Nicky and Katie!). Grant and I went out for a lovely walk with the dogs this morning and managed not to get wet!! After that we went out for a drive and did some secret shopping - well we did not actually buy anything, mainly because there was nothing to buy, but we did see a new aquarium that we would like. Looks like we have sorted out a joint Christmas present.

A little doze over my book while Hubby watched rugby this afternoon, then off for a superb dinner with the Phil and Katie. What a wonderful end to the weekend and I still have got Monday to look forward to!

I did not get any beading done, though. Looks like I might have to do some of that tomorrow!!

Good Morning! It's not too early today, only 5.30am! And it sounds like it is wet and windy outside.
Anyway, I came down to write a quick newsletter but the I cannot get on the site to - so I thought I would write in here instead.

We have got the Christmas gift workshop today and I have been lying awake half the night thinking about it. We are going to be playing with decorating glass dishes and candle, making a memo board and something with some beads (don't ask me what, Katie is coming up with the idea for this one!). Just a nice little group today and we have one COMPLETE beginner, a lady called Sue, who I meet each morning when walking the dogs. She fancies having a go at making her Chrissy Pressies (mad lady!). She says she has never done any crafting before. She is in for a treat.

The reason that I wanted to send out a newsletter today is to prompt everybody that this is the last weekend to book seats on the NEC coach trip for next week. I think there will still be seat available, but the late tickets will have to be purchases at the gate.

I want to welcome all the Design Team members. I am looking forward to seeing what you all come up with. And thank you Tracy for organising it all.

Guess what? I am having a day off tomorrow! Not sure how much I am looking forward to it. The weather is supposed to be grotty and Hubby Dear is already moaning about having his Rugby viewing interupted! I might have to take some jewellery making stuff home and catch up on MY chrissy present preparations! But the good news is that we are not cooking the dinner. Being wined and dined by Katie & Phil! I understand that Katie has been practicing her roast pork in readiness and that it is superb - according to Phil, who is a smooth talker like his father!

Anyway, better go to make the early morning tea now and then get on with some work.

New DT Member!!

Hello Well the design team is set and ready to go.

I would Just like to introduce one member for Now.

Joanna :-

Joanna was a little bit resistant to join but we cajoled (bullied) technically, to bring her work to you. Joanna is a Whiz with the cricut and we wanted to have someone whos talent lay elsewhere to stamping.

Our blog challenge is for all techniques you see. So we are Unique.

A couple of Joannas Cards are posted above. She has no blog at present.

Well Firstly I must apologise for my adsence, I have just been so busy, behind the scenes.

The New Flutterby Design Team Members, will be hearing from me this week, and then I will post the info here for you all to see.

The First Challenge will be set on the 3rd Wednesday of every month.

It will just be a monthly Challenge to begin with.

The Design team ideas are to get your creative juices flowing.

Then all you have to do is leave a comment, underneath the challenge post Saying you can find my entry on my blog, Link back to this site and enjoy.

Every month Lynn will pick a winner from all those taking part and issue a little prize.
